At Philip Edward Salon, we are a city and state-licensed facility authorized to perform Microblading services. Client safety and satisfaction are our top priorities.
What is Microblading?
Microblading is a form of semi-permanent tattoo where pigment is implanted into the skin with a hand-held tool in a series of thin lines to simulate natural hair strokes. The effects can last up to 12-24 months, depending on skin type, after which the pigment fades leaving the skin and your natural brows exactly as they were. The results are very natural and lifelike, giving the brows a natural, fuller look.’ The semi-permanent nature of the treatment allows the client to update their brows as they age to always have the perfect shape and fullness for them.
What is the difference between getting microbladed and getting a tattoo?
A standard old-fashioned tattoo, usually using dark permanent ink with a machine, results in stamped-like solid shapes as eyebrows. Not only can this look very unnatural and eventually leave an unflattering grey color but will last as long as 20-30 years to a lifetime. Microblading, on the other hand, is a tattoo technique that creates a series of hair-like incisions. The pigment used is semi-permanent and only lasts up to about 1-2 years. In result, microblading not only simulates a much more natural aesthetic than the old-fashioned tattoo but provides the flexibility to change the shape of the eyebrows as both trends and faces change over time.
Does Microblading hurt?
It can, depending on each person’s reception of anesthesia. However, most microblading places, including ours, provide ample numbing in order to provide clients with a painless experience.
Are there any microblading side effects?
It’s very common for your body to try to reject the ink after the first treatment, so you may experience up to 60-80% rejection. As such, we recommend a touch up appointment 6-8 weeks after your initial appointment to ensure that all lines and colors have taken and adjust the shape of your brow as needed to ensure your desired results.
How do I know what the best eyebrow shape is for me?
Each person can actually pull off a variety of eye brow shapes and tones however your artist will work with you to design the ideal shape for you during the consultation before a single stroke of the instrument is applied. Only once you approve of the design will your artist begin the procedure.
How much does the Procedure Cost?
The Microblading procedure starts at $599. Your artist will discuss with you and provide a customized quote based on your needs.
How to Prepare for your Microblade Appointment
Keep your skin exfoliated and moisturized! It’s also best not to drink or take blood-thinning medications/supplements prior to microblading as this will cause an increased level of bleeding throughout the procedure. Coming in with makeup is optional but not recommended as you will be restricted from getting water on the procedural area for the first 24hrs.
How long will it take to heal?
The entire healing process will take from 4-6 weeks depending on your body's regeneration process and age. Your new eyebrows will go through several phases during the healing cycle. The pigment will initially appear very natural looking immediately after the procedure. The color of the pigment will appear much darker the next day. Note that because of natural skin regeneration, after recovery period (peeling), brows might appear lighter than original. This might give you the impression that color is fading too quickly. Often even with proper care, clients may lose original hairstrokes which make brows look uneven. It is absolutely normal. That’s is the reason why most clients need a touchup after 6 weeks.
Once the healing of the skin starts taking place, it will look like dandruff flakes or dry skin. However, this is just superficial color and dry skin being naturally removed from your eyebrows. The final look of your eyebrows will be apparent approximately 30 days after your procedure.
Never rub the treated area as it will disturb the skin from natural healing.
Once completely healed, always apply a layer of sunscreen SPF 30 up to SPF 50 on your eyebrows when exposed to the sun. Sun exposure might cause the color pigment to fade away more quickly. When using foundation, be aware when applying to avoid your healed eyebrows. If foundation covers healed brows, your eyebrows will appear lighter.
You can now enjoy your beautiful new temporary eyebrows. You will simply love your new gorgeous fresh look!
How do I care for my New Brows?
Microblading post-care is very important to the appearance and longevity of your new eyebrows. Do not let any water, lotion, soap, or makeup touch your eyebrow area during the first 7 days after your procedure.
After 5-7 days, make sure your hands are completely clean and gently apply the post-care ointment with clean hands. This can be done once at night time, but be sure to use the ointment sparingly as your skin needs to heal itself. Please continue to apply the ointment for 7 days.
The following must be avoided during all 14 days post-microblading procedure:
-Increased sweating
-Practicing sports
-Swimming
-Hot sauna, hot bath, or Jacuzzi
-Sun tanning or salon tanning
-UV/UVA Rays or chemicals as they have been known to cause a shift in color and premature fading
-Any laser or chemical treatments or peelings, and/or any creams containing Retin-A or ----Glycolic acid on the face or neck
-Picking, peeling, or scratching of the micro pigmented area in order to avoid scarring of the area or removal of the pigment
-Performing tasks related to heavy household cleaning such as garage or basement cleaning where there is a lot of airborne debris
-Drinking alcohol in excess, as it may lead to slow healing of wounds
-Driving in open air vehicles such as convertibles, boats, bicycles, or motorcycles
-Touching of the eyebrow area except for when rinsing and applying the post-care cream with a cotton swab
Please wash your face carefully around the eyebrow without getting water on the treated area. During the shower, keep your face away from the showerhead or take a bath.
Itching and flaking may appear during the first seven days post-microblading procedure. However, experience has shown that by following these after-care instructions, these symptoms may quickly disappear
